Whine Or Shine
About this series
It is hard to capture in words the infinite greatness of who Jesus is. How did Jesus describe himself? He often used metaphors or pictures which convey foundational aspects of His person. We begin a new sermon series looking at the glory of Jesus through His “I am . . ." statements in the Gospel of John. Let’s get to know Jesus better together.

1. Light is a powerful reality and, therefore, a powerful metaphor as well. What all does light do? What does light represent; what are the connotations of light? In what ways does the Bible use light as a metaphor? (Read John 1:1-14; 3:16-21.)
2. When Jesus says, “I am the light of the world,” what truths is He emphasizing about himself; what is He claiming? What is the connection between what Jesus says in John 8:12 and John 8:31-32?
3. John commands believers to “walk in the light” (1 John1:7). Paul calls Christ-followers to “put on the armor of light” (Romans13:12) and to “live as children of light” (Ephesians 5:8). What, exactly, are these commands calling us to do? How do we turn up the dimmer switchof Christ’s light in our lives?
