Ecclesiastes Bible Project Overview
Life Application Questions
- Read Ecclesiastes 7:1-6. Why is mourning better than feasting? What should the wise person “take to heart” and why? What is the point of this passage?
- The Teacher wrote: “Whoever fears God will avoid all extremes” (7:18). What is the danger of extremes? What are extremes we should avoid and why? Does the author mean it’s okay to be a little bit wicked or that too much holiness is a bad thing? Explain.
- Read Ecclesiastes 7:26-29. At first glance, the Teacher’s words here seem downright misogynistic (prejudiced against women). If he isn’t trying to put down women, what is his point (read verse 29 again and consider: to whom is the pronoun “they” (NIV) referring?)? Where should and shouldn’t we look for wisdom?
