The prophets give us a window into the mind and heart of God. It’s all too easy for us to get trapped in our limited human perspective of life. The prophets jolt us out of this partial and distorted perception by giving us God’s point of view.

Read one of the extendedmetaphors in Ezekiel, either 16:1-63 or 23:1-49. Discuss the imagery andforcefulness of the challenge.
Discuss one of the two identifying idols inventories.Invite each group member to share a potential idol they have identified. How can we help each other chop down the idol?
Discuss how to discern the difference between loving your family and turning it into an idol. Discuss the difference between working hard and making achievement or success an idol.
We have now covered the three indictments: religious ritualism, social injustice and oppression of others, and idolatry. Review each of these and how/where you believe they show up in our group and in our church family. What would the prophets say to WL Grace today?
